In a previous post, I spoke about “The Law of the Farm”, which basically says, “You must reap before you sow!”

In that post, I also mentioned how I kinda took “The Law of the Farm”… literally and started gardening.

That was years ago, and at the time I had a little garden that was about 8 feet by 10 feet. I now live on a farm in the tropics on which I’ve also planted a small vegetable garden.

Gardening has become, for me a sort of meditation as well. And every little act that I take in that garden reminds me of things that are important to my online business and in my life.

In this article, I am going to share with you 7 “Lessons From the Farm.”

1.  Prepare the Soil – Believe in the Abundance of the Universe

We are often told by the media, our leaders, and educational institutions that “There isn’t enough”. They tell us that there is an oil shortage, a water shortage, not enough money, not enough food… But everything around us tells us that this is a lie.

The farmer plants his seeds expecting (believing) that the Universe will eventually turn every single seed into a multitude of fruits and seeds. This universe is a universe of abundance.

Think about it…

There are billions of people on this planet, most of whom are dealing with one struggle or another. If you can become the person who is able to solve just one of those billions of problems and deliver the solutions to a very small fraction of those billions of people, you will create wealth in your life.

Scarcity only exists in our minds. Believe in it and an abundance of scarcity awaits you… Believe in abundance and you will see it manifest all around you.

Become like a farmer and prepare the garden of your mind by first believing in the abundance of the universe. – believing that there is more than enough for you and that it is awaiting delivery to you.

2. Sow The Seeds of the Fruit That You Desire

Unfortunately, a lot of people in the opportunity space just have the wrong mindset. They are seeking a 1-click-get-rich-with-no-work solution.  They want to eat the fruit before they have sown the seeds of success.

In the real world, this is just not possible…

Not when it comes to my little garden, or when it comes to your life and your business.

I can’t eat the tomatoes before I have planted the tomato seeds…

And you can’t reasonably expect to get rich without first sowing the seeds of wealth.

In every aspect of your life, you must sow the seeds of the fruit that you desire first.

And here’s an addon principle…

The garden of your mind is where all of your future success will spring from, so continuously plant seeds in that garden that will produce the fruit that you desire in your life.

3. Consitently Nurture the Garden

It’s not enough to sow seeds. You must also nurture those seeds until they bear fruit. The garden must be watered and fed. The various plants must be pruned. Diseased/dying plants must be removed.

This is also true in your life and in your business.

Your life is full of relationships.. You have relationships in your business, and you have relationships in your private life. Those relationships must be respected and nurtured if you want them to bear fruit.

Your investments need to be watched and your portfolio adjusted.

Every time that you send an email to the people on your list and provide them with valuable information, you are nurturing those relationships.

Every time that you kiss your loved ones, you are nurturing those relationships.

Every time that you check and make adjustments to your business strategies, your investment portfolios, your saving plans, you are nurturing your financial garden.

You must constantly and religiously nourish your gardens.

4. Remove Weeds and Pests…

Every morning, one of the tasks that I do is remove any weeds that I find in the vegetable garden.  If I allow weeds to grow in the garden, they will spread and limit the growth of the seeds that I have purposely planted.

So too with your mind.  The world is full of negativity.  And if you allow any seeds of negativity to take root and flourish in your mind, they will grow into weeds that, if allowed to grow unchecked, will choke the life out of any seeds (dreams ) that you have purposely planted there.

So be vigilant in getting the weeds out of your mind and, consequently, your life and your business.  Mind the garden of your mind.  You must do everything, and anything that you have to do to prevent the seeds of negativity take root in your mind.

And when you find them, pluck them out.

Sometimes the people in your life are like pests in a garden. They are there to eat away at your garden as you nurture it and in many instances are responsible for planting weeds in the garden of your mind.

Therefore, you must be picky about the people that you allow around you. Only associate with those who help you nourish your garden. You should not allow negative people in the space where you are nurturing your dreams. You must weed them out.

5. Practice Patience..

One of the biggest problems that I see in the opportunity marketplace, and in our society in general, is that everyone wants it now. Instant Potatoes, spray-on tans, get rich quick…

People just don’t seem to have the patience that is required to plant the seed and nurture that seed until it bears fruit.

Your success in this business and in life is going to depend largely on your ability to wait until the seed that you have planted and cared for has matured into fruit-bearing trees…

Those trees won’t grow overnight, but when they start bearing fruit, it will all have been worth the effort and the wait.

6. Keep the End in Mind…

One thing that will keep you motivated is being able to visualize and re-visualize the outcomes that you desire. Keep the end goal of your efforts in mind.

This serves two purposes:

  1. By constantly bringing in mind the end goal – the income, the lifestyle that you wish to enjoy, you will constantly remind yourself of why you are putting yourself through this ordeal of learning how to market on the internet.
  2. By keeping the end in mind, you are training your subconscious mind as well. Everytime that you write your goals, or look at your vision board, you are telling your subconsious mind over and over again what it is that you want and as a result, your subconscious mind will go to work making what you desire a reality in your life. It will constantly be on the lookout for opportunities that will help move you towards your goals each and every day and it will go to work, moving you closer and closer towards your goal even as you sleep.

7. Have a Grateful Heart…

It’s easy to have gratitude after the harvest, but we must learn to be grateful for everything of value in our lives. Oft times, that means being grateful for having survived negative experiences as well, simply because you weathered and survived that storm – and, hopefully, came through it as a better person.

Get into the practice of being grateful.

Be Grateful for the morning sun

For the rain that is needed to nourish your gardens,

For weeds that keep you vigilant,

For future opportunities to sow new seeds.

And when the harvest comes, be grateful for that as well and share, because again, there is more than enough for you.

I think that a lot of people suffer through life simply because they don’t have the ability to appreciate and be grateful for and happy with the blessings in their lives. And because they focus on what they don’t want, more of what they don’t want to grow in their lives.

Be grateful for every win large or small. Focus on what you do have and what you want and more of that will appear in your life.

Conclussion…

The Law of the Farm is a universal law. It applies to every aspect of your life and of your business.

If you want to see the results that you desire, you must…

  1. Prepare the Soil of your garden.
  2. Sow seeds that will produce the fruit that you desire.
  3. Nurture your garden
  4. Remove weeds ( mostly from your mind )
  5. Practice patience..
  6. Keep the Vision of your Goal in Mind.
  7. Be Grateful.

At the end of it all, if you apply “The Law of the Farm” to every aspect of your life, you will discover that the thing in your life that has grown the most, is you.
